Introductory observational studies on objects related to lost and found
Further studies includes creating monoprints of animal skull studies which represented the theme of Lost & Found as through time, evidence of history is discovered
Pen study of a digital camera. To explore the assigned A-Level theme of Lost & Found, I took pictures of the things I found in my neighbourhood that represented it. Most commonly found were rubbish, specifically drink cans.
Explored monoprinting of the photos taken.
Worked over this with coloured markers, pen and even ink
After looking into the journey of products turning into rubbish disposed on the
streets, I looked to transverse into a different approach. I started to look at spiritual and
religious journeys as some people find themselves through religion. Continued this as
it was different to what I'd usually look at. Sketched church buildings on ma
After research, found that churches were often adorned with gargoyles as they were believed to scare off evil spirits. I continued to experiment studying various types of them.
Explored a very different type of medium and worked with clay to mimic the texture of stone gargoyles. Gargoyles were often beasts with animalistic features like wings, feathers, horns or fur. I wanted to look at how to display feather work with clay.
Gargoyles usually incorporated merging two beings to create a monstrous image. I started experimenting with people in my work to make it more diverse
Title page for new theme
Diana's death caused several conspiracies. I aimed to depict the struggles in her life as I improved on my portrait skills. Down below is a pen study of Diana with a net fabric stuck over to mimic the hats she used to wear
She had to often hide from paparazzi as it was very intense. She also struggled with the new publicity and so I looked at masks
Did more printing with fabric and used it as a background for some further studies. Additionally drew a charcoal portrait of my sister veiled in fabric.
Explored the concept of attachment to memories. Here's an ink study of my childhood clothes attached to myself with a red string which symbolises strong bonds
Explored editing and incorporated editing on PicsArt to merge a childhood picture of me with the installation of the dress I was wearing in the picture
Did a pen study of the edit
Played with colours to build up to my final piece
Attempted larger A3 studies to practice for the big piece
work in progress picture
close up of pen detail on the large final piece
multiple of my studies
an installation of my work cut up with the dress I was wearing in the picture. Symbolises the fragments of childhood memory all connected to the dress
Previous sculpture oil painting study alongside the sculpture I created using old clothing dripped in wax, then painted white. It was also adorned with gold accessories to look regal (connnected to the diana work)
